We do not show God’s glory, not even with his help. 29 I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me. 28 We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. Paul said the same thing to the Colossians: 27 God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He said “now Christ lives in me.” Christ is in us, showing the glory of God. Paul did not say: “I have been crucified with Christ, and now I live for God’s glory.” No. It is God’s work from beginning to end, not ours. God saves us by his grace, and then he goes on to show his glory through us. A lot of people make the mistake of believing that God saves us by his grace, and then we are supposed to make a giant effort to live good lives out of gratitude toward him. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. What we are aiming for is what Paul expressed so well: 20 I have been crucified with Christ. This time I want us to get a bit more practical about how, exactly, God shows his glory through us, and what we can do to either hinder it, or help it.

Since that is his business, when we belong to him, he uses us (among other things) to show his glory. That is, he is manifesting his goodness, love, peace, joy, beauty, truth, justice, grace, creativity, and so on, to the universe. Last time, we talked about the fact that God is in the business of showing his glory to the world.

To listen to the sermon, click the play button: We lean on Jesus, and trust him to show his glory in us and through us. (When there is a conflict between the two, we follow the bible.) But we don’t do it on our own strength. We respond in faith to His Word (the bible) and promptings from within us. When we walk by the Spirit, we are trusting Jesus to live the life through us. So, I should pray, and ask him to help me.” But that isn’t really the Biblical picture of Walking by the Spirit.

They think, “Out of gratitude toward God, I should give glory to Him. This Bible was originally hand-painted, then carefully recreated by Hosanna Revival. Some people think that we live the Christian life with God’s help. This Bible reminds us to call upon His powerful name and pray for lasting peace. The Lord’s protection and security are for you, and they are without end. The verse chosen for the front reads: “He will cover you in his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge” from Psalm 91:4. The front cover has Psalm 61:2 scripted: “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” This psalm is a prayer of desperation, crying out to the only one who can save us and give us the refuge we seek. We chose Scriptures for both the front and back of this Bible that speak of the safety, security, and foundational rock we have in our God. We are so excited to offer this beautiful landscape Bible for women that prefer larger-printed text, or who are looking for a single column journaling Bible with more space for notes.
